REGULATIONS FOR TRANSPORTING CARRY-ON BAGGAGE EXCEEDING 180 CM IN ALL THREE DIMENSIONS (length + width + height)

1. On Federal Passenger Company (FPC) trains, passengers are allowed to carry with them items whose total three dimensions exceeds 180 cm:

These items must be placed in the spaces allocated for hand luggage or in the carriage together with the passengers who are carrying them in such a way that they do not interfere with other passengers and do not damage or dirty the carriage and the items belonging to the other passengers, including the interior of a compartment in a compartment carriage or the compartment of a reserved seat car in such a way that they do not impede free access to the emergency exits from the carriage and the free exit from the compartment (or section) with luggage etc. of passengers passing through it.

In addition to the established norm, passengers are also entitled to carry with them hand luggage weighing up to 50 kg on one ticket purchased additionally at the full price of the adult passenger fare.

1.1. Collapsible and non-collapsible canoes, kayaks (including paddles), catamarans and rafts, as well as similar equipment with payment at the rate for the carriage of baggage weighing 30 kg.

1.2. Bicycles, scooters, electric bicycles, segways (gyroscooters), unicycles and other means of individual mobility (both assembled and disassembled, both in packaging and without packaging) with payment at the rate for the carriage of baggage weighing 30 kg.

1.3. Hunting and sporting weapons transported in an unloaded state separately from cartridges in cases, holsters or special boxes, as well as in the special packaging of the weapons’ manufacturer, with payment for each weapon at the rate for the carriage of baggage weighing 30 kg (passengers must have documents showing the right to transport weapons).

1.4. Hockey sticks, tourist tents and other sport and tourist equipment, except for those specified in subparagraphs 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, sports uniforms and equipment, are transported free of charge. Snowboards and skis are also transported free of charge in all carriages (except for carriages with hard seats (general carriages) and carriages in multi-unit rolling stock with seats) in long-distance trains, but no more than one pair of skis (snowboard).

1.5. Musical instruments can be transported free of charge.

1.6. Baby strollers and wheelchairs in disassembled and packed form (except for the cases specified in Paragraph 185 of the Rules of Transportation) with payment at the rate for the carriage of baggage weighing 30 kg. Passengers with children and persons with disabilities who have limited mobility are allowed to carry with them a baby carriage and a wheelchair, respectively, free of charge, as well as other technical means of after-care necessary for their movement.

1.7. Sport poles in compartment and sleeper carriages with payment at the rate for the carriage of baggage weighing 30 kg. The poles should be placed in a bundle evenly along the casing of the aisle heating pipes so that they do not interfere with the movement of passengers. Loading sports poles is allowed:

  • from the train’s departure station;
  • from an intermediate station where the train stops for at least 5 minutes;
  • from a high platform through the window on the corridor side of the car.

At the terminal station, the poles are unloaded only after the passengers have completely disembarked from the carriage. The conductor of the passenger carriage in which poles are transported controls their loading and unloading.

2. If the combined dimensions of the hand luggage exceed 180 cm and are not listed in Section 1, the passenger must pay for the excess hand luggage or hand it over to the luggage compartment. The transportation of the listed items shall be carried out as follows:

2.1. Passengers may carry their hand luggage with them provided that all pieces of their hand luggage can be stowed in the hand luggage areas or kept with the passengers in the carriage in such a way that they do not disturb the other passengers. For each oversized piece of the specified hand baggage, a fee is charged at the baggage rate of 30 kg.

2.2. As luggage, under special conditions applicable to oversized baggage. The weight of a single piece of oversized baggage may not exceed 75 kg. Oversized baggage must be able to pass through and fit entirely in a special luggage compartment without damaging the passenger carriage.

3. In case of overweight hand luggage:

3.1. Up to 14 kg over the limit of 36 kg, provided the excess hand luggage will be stowed in the hand luggage space or kept with the passenger carrying it so as not to disturb the other passengers and their hand luggage. The passenger shall pay the excess hand luggage at the rate for 10 kg of luggage regardless of the actual weight of the excess hand luggage.

3.2. Over 14 kg in excess of the established allowance of 36 kg, the passenger must:

3.2.1. Hand over no more than 3 pieces of excess hand luggage to the luggage compartment, with each piece weighing no more than 75 kg and the 3 pieces together weighing no more than 200 kg, subject to payment of an excess hand luggage fee in accordance with the set rate.

3.3. Purchase an additional travel document (ticket) for up to 50 kg of hand luggage in addition to the standard hand luggage allowance, at full price. If the passenger pays for extra seats at full price, the hand luggage allowance shall be calculated according to the number of issued travel documents (tickets).
