From 1 September 2021, the Rules for the Provision of Services for the Carriage of Passengers by Rail Transport, as well as Baggage and Cargo Baggage for Personal, Family, Household and Other Needs, as approved by Decree No. 810 issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 27 May 2021, came into effect.
From 1 September 2023, the Rules for the Carriage of Passengers, Baggage and Cargo Baggage by Rail Transport as approved by Order No. 352 issued by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on 5 September 2022 will come into effect.

Providing contact information
When booking their tickets, passengers can indicate a mobile phone number or another method of communication to keep themselves informed.
Booking tickets and boarding trains using expired tickets:
Passengers can book long-distance train tickets:
- on the basis of the information from the passports of citizens of the Russian Federation which have expired within 90 days after the day the citizen reaches the established legal age;
- on the basis of the information from the birth certificates of children aged 14 years within 90 days after the day they reach the specified age before the expiry date of the period required to obtain a passport;
- on the basis of the information from a military ID after release from military service during the period when military transportation tickets and documents established by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are valid.
Boarding trains:
- if, when boarding a long-distance train, the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation which has been used as the basis for issuing and booking the ticket has expired, the passenger is allowed to board the train upon presentation of this passport within 90 days after he or she has reached the established age;
- children aged 14 are allowed to board long-distance trains upon presentation of their birth certificate or a notarised copy of their birth certificate within 90 days after the day they reach 14 years of age, as well as during the period required to obtain a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation;
- children aged 14 can board trains on a ticket issued using a birth certificate upon presentation of a birth certificate and (or) a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation with changes to their personal data;
- passengers can board long-distance trains upon presentation of a military ID after leaving military service during the period when military transportation documents and tickets established by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are valid.
Providing space on the bottom berth
A passenger travelling on a lower berth is required to provide a place at the table for a passenger travelling on an upper berth to eat.
The time for eating in the morning is from 7:00 to 10:00 and in the evening from 19:00 to 21:00, but no longer than 30 minutes, and at lunchtime from 12:00 to 15:00, but no longer than 1 hour.
