Our web-site and RZD Passengers mobile app (hereinafter referred to as the "app") provide a natural person with an opportunity to order and pay for the e-tickets (no fees charged) using his/her bank card.

The services of the site and the apps available to the user can only be used for their intended purposes – the sale of electronic travel and transportation documents and services for individuals.

In the event that violations are detected, information about violations is received from third parties or other signs are identified that may indicate violations of the procedures for using the services of the site and apps, Russian Railways, as the owner of the web resources, has the right to suspend or terminate access to the authorised user's personal account.

The user account is subject to blocking without any possibility of recovery when the procedure for using the website and application services has been violated in the following cases:

  • booking electronic tickets using robot requests (operations), including skipping the mandatory system interfaces that appear during the booking process for electronic tickets;
  • booking electronic tickets for private individuals for commercial purposes using a personal account in the absence of agency or subagency agreements with carriers;
  • multiple seat/berth reservations, including reservations, without the subsequent payment for and the booking of an electronic ticket;
  • multiple booking of seats/berths on long-distance trains without the purpose of travelling;
  • one user booking more than 600 tickets per passenger for journeys lasting more than 4 hours within the course of 1 year;
  • one user booking electronic tickets for more than 400 different passengers within the course of 1 calendar year;
  • refunds of more than 50% of booked electronic tickets in the event of purchasing more than 600 tickets within the course of 1 calendar year;
  • the permitted number of devices connected to one account is no more than 7;
  • blocking a carriage and/or train (reserving and/or purchasing more than 6 seats/berths in one carriage/train using the data from one passport; cyclical reservation of seats/berths without purchasing);
  • users making regular search queries for individual directions during 1 calendar day, whereby the queries are sent according to a specific time template (every hour at a specific time / every N minutes etc.).

The conditions for organising and carrying out passenger transportation by long-distance trains on the territory of the Russian Federation are determined by:

The transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo baggage between stations of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Georgia, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Lithuania is regulated by:

The sale and return of electronic tickets (hereinafter referred to as electronic tickets), as well as confirmation of the agreement to travel on a long-distance train with an indication of the seats/berths on an electronic ticket (hereinafter referred to as electronic registration) is carried out in accordance with the conditions below.

By purchasing electronic tickets on the website and in the application, passengers agree to all the conditions listed below, thereby simultaneously confirming their legal capacity and financial solvency, and also acknowledge the responsibility for the obligations imposed upon them as a result of agreeing to this offer.

By purchasing electronic tickets via the website and the app, passengers are warned and agree to send the e-ticket form with personal data to the e-mail address specified when booking the e-tickets. In the event that passengers use foreign electronic mail services whose data storage servers are not located on the territory of the Russian Federation, they confirm their consent to the processing of personal data, including the possibility of the cross-border transfer of personal data.

In accordance with Clause 18 of the Rules for the Provision of Services for the Transportation of Passengers by Rail, as well as Cargo, Luggage and Cargo Baggage for Personal, Family, Household and Other Needs not related to Business Activities as approved by Decree No. 810 issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 27 May 2021, the exchange information has been implemented between the web systems of OJSC Russian Railways and the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (hereinafter referred to as UPSMS) for transmitting messages about transactions with electronic tickets issued for long-distance trains on the Internet for the purpose of reflecting information about travel by rail in the personal account of the UPSMS user.

Users who do not accept the terms of this offer, are not allowed to book and pay for electronic tickets.

Russian Railways is not responsible for:

  • incorrectly specified e-mail addresses in the user’s profile;
  • mail client settings on the part of the user;
  • service settings of the operator providing e-mail services.

Attention! The following functions are not performed on the site and in the application:

  • seat/berth reservations without payment of fares;
  • booking electronic tickets for certain preferential categories of citizens;
  • booking non-cash electronic tickets for the travel of children under the age of 5 without occupying a separate seat/berth when accompanied by adults from stations located on the territory of Ukraine;
  • booking electronic tickets for the trains of the carrier State Unitary Enterprise Crimean Railways;
  • booking the transportation of small domestic (pet) animals, dogs and birds (except for the trains of the JSC Federal Passenger Company (FPC), as well as trains for which the cost of transportation is included in the fare and paid together with the electronic ticket);
  • baggage clearance (excluding JSC FPC trains);

TICKETS FOR LONG-DISTANCE TRAINS SHOW ONLY THE LOCAL TIME OF THE DEPARTURE AND DESTINATION STATIONS.

As part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Programme for Ensuring Public Safety in Transport, inspection procedures are carried out at railway stations. In order to avoid arriving late for the train, passengers should ensure that they are at the station well in advance and no later than 40 minutes before train departure.

1. Rules for booked tickets on the site or the App 

For long-distance trains operated by Russian Railways and the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) that are equipped with devices for monitoring the validity of electronic tickets, travelling on domestic routes, including trailer and direct carriages, and on international routes between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia, electronic tickets on the website and through the app can be booked no later than 15 minutes before the train’s departure from the passenger’s boarding station.

Electronic tickets for other trains can be booked no later than 1 hour before the train‘s departure from the initial station of the route.

Electronic tickets are on sale for the following trains:

  • the domestic routes within the territory of the Russian Federation (operated by the Russian Railways, the Federal Passenger Company, OJSC Sakhalin Passenger Company, CJSC Grand Service Express,  RZD Tour LLC, LLC Tver Express, JSC Yakutian Railways) for the trains servicing the routes to/from the Kaliningrad region with transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • the international routes to the CIS countries (i.e.: the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan) and the Republic of Abkhazia;
  • international services (the far abroad) on train No. 306 Irkutsk Ulaanbaatar;

Before booking your e-ticket on the site or the app you must either undergo authentication on the web-site or register. Your personal password is confidential. Remember it so that you can access information about your bookings.

When booking an e-ticket the details of the journey and the personal data of each passenger must be entered in the relevant fields. The user making the order is fully responsible for entering the correct travel details and personal data of each passenger.

When booking 10 or more electronic tickets for persons under the age of 18 to travel by train on the same route and on the same departure date, on one or more orders, the responsibility for the transportation of the passengers rests with the user who booked the electronic tickets.

The user bears full responsibility for stating a correct and current e-mail address when registering and/or changing the e-mail address in the personal account.

E-tickets can be purchased on the following dates, subject to the availability of seats in the Express system.

Electronic tickets are issued at adult and children's fares and also free of charge to children not occupying a separate place at the ages specified in Section 7.

In carriages in the Sleeper Carriage/Lux category of the carrier RZD Tour LLC, electronic tickets are booked at the special Single fare. A passenger who has booked an electronic ticket at a special Single fare travels in a separate compartment of a carriage in the Sleeper Compartment/Lux category.

The e-tickets for the trains servicing the international routes (to/from the non-CIS routes) are issued at a Single rate approved for the 1 class and Luxury (business) carriages (1У;1/1, 1И;1/1 and 1А;1/1). The passenger who booked an e-ticket at a Single rate travels in an individual compartment of 1 class carriage (Luxury (business) carriages).

Attention! When booking tickets on international services between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on Lastochka trains operated by the Directorate of High-Speed Transport, discounts and promotions are not provided to individual passengers.

On the Russian Railways website, no more than 9 electronic tickets can be booked on one order, which must include the personal data of the 9 passengers.

On the mobile application, no more than 4 electronic tickets can be booked on one order, which must include the personal data of 4 the passengers.

In order to avoid misunderstandings and late arrivals for trains, it is recommended that when placing orders for journeys involving changes, passengers should select an interval of not less than 3 hours between train arrival and departure times.

The booking, issuance and return of electronic tickets on the website and through the RZD Passengers mobile app is not possible when the Express system is undergoing technological breaks.

Attention! When buying tickets for trains of foreign carriers travelling outside the Russian Federation, the carriage schemes are not indicated.

2. E-ticket booking particulars  

Seats in different types of carriage must be booked separately. This includes indicating gender for journeys on sleeper trains (one of the following must be selected – male carriage, female carriage, mixed carriage). To avoid any conflicts on the train, the passengers must make their choice of the berths in the compartment being guided by the sex of the passenger ("male" or "female").

When placing orders for trains operated by the Federal Passenger Company, the photographs of the carriages shown represent the stated type of car (seater, general, reserved seat/berth, compartment, sleeper, soft), but are not photographs of specific carriages that are actually part of the trains.

When booking and issuing electronic tickets with funds debited from a single personal account (SPA), no bonuses from the RZD Bonus loyalty programme are accrued.

E-tickets for travel in VIP carriages (Lux category, service class 1А, 1М or 1И) on domestic and international routes with CIS countries are issued upon payment for the entire compartment, which accommodates one or two passengers. The personal details of all passengers travelling in a single compartment (up to two passengers) must be provided.

Luxury (business) class seats on international routes (to/from the non-CIS countries) are available for all places in the compartment only. The personal details of all passengers travelling in a single compartment (up to two passengers) must be provided.

When placing an order for a compartment, sleeping carriage and Luxury (business) carriages owned by JSC FPC, CJSC TC Grand Service Express, RZD Tour LLC, LLC Tver Express and OJSC Sakhalin Passenger Company, the e-ticket fare includes a charge for the use of a set of bed linen. When placing an order for the second-class carriages owned by JSC FPC, OJSC Sakhalin Passenger Company, JSC Yakutian Railways, the passengers may find it more convenient to pay for the use of the bed linen when paying for their ticket. If a passenger refused to pay the bed linen fee when booking an e-ticket, he/she may pay the relevant amount to the carriage attendant on board the train. 

Registration in one order of electronic tickets for high-speed trains "Sapsan" and "Lastochka" of the carrier DOSS with application of various special and public tariff plans (Full, children, children without a place, Senior, Junior, road and electronic cards, etc.) is allowed. Round-trip fares are available on services operated by a single carrier on the same (return) service and using the same seats. In this case, discount or general fares can only be applied to one of the passengers. The discount on the special rate plan only applies to the fare and excludes the service charge. To apply one of the special tariff plans for e-tickets, you must select the required tariff plan in the "tariff selection" field.

When booking an order for a "compartment-suite" (service class 1Ж) on high-speed Sapsan trains, an electronic ticket is issued with payment for a whole compartment in which one or two passengers can travel, whereby the personal details of each passenger must be indicated. When booking a ticket for one passenger, an electronic ticket is issued with an indication of 2 seats/berths. A single e-ticket with individually assigned seats is issued for bookings of two passengers. The fare charged depends on the number of seats/berths indicated on the e-ticket, while the service charge is based on the number of passengers booked. Changes to booked e-tickets are not allowed. 

E-tickets for "premium compartments" (service class 1Е) in Sapsan high-speed trains are issued upon payment for the entire compartment, which accommodates one or two passengers. The personal details of all passengers travelling in a single compartment (up to two passengers) must be provided. Passengers travelling alone are assigned two (both) seats in the compartment on the e-ticket, while passengers travelling together are assigned one seat each. The fare depends on the number of seats indicated in the e-ticket, and the service charge is calculated according to the number of passengers travelling. Changes cannot be made to e-tickets that have already been issued.

When placing an order for travel in the negotiation and business negotiation compartments (service classes 1Р and 1П) on Sapsan high-speed trains, an electronic ticket is issued with payment for the whole compartment in which one to four passengers can travel. The personal data of each passenger must be indicated. When you make a ticket for one passenger is issued an electronic ticket with 4 seats. When you make travel for two passengers on the first issued an electronic ticket indicating one place, the second indicating 3 seats. When you make travel of three passengers the first and second issued e-tickets with one seat, the third – with two seats. A single e-ticket is issued for four passengers travelling together. The fare is charged depending on the number of seats in the e-ticket, and the service fee is calculated according to the number of passengers. Changes to the issued e-tickets are not allowed.

When issuing tickets for carriages in the Sleeper Compartment/Lux category of the carrier RZD Tour LLC for which the special Single fare applies, an electronic ticket is issued with payment for the whole compartment, in which only one person can travel.

The special Single fare applies in the case of a one-time purchase of the whole compartment of the Sleeper Compartment/Lux category by one passenger. In this case, the fare for two seats and the cost of one set of services are charged.

When making bookings according to the special "Birthday" tariff plan on electronic devices, the registration of all passengers booked under this special tariff plan is possible only on one order. The birthday person’s ticket must be given first on the order. With regard to the choice of seats, only consecutive seats in the same category are allowed. Changes to tickets are not possible. To rebook a birthday person and/or their accompanying persons, it is necessary to return all tickets booked under the "Birthday" tariff plan and re-book them after taking into account all the necessary changes.

The special tariffs "Birthday", "Honeymoon", "Junior" and "Senior" are available to citizens of the Russian Federation and passengers who have a "residence permit for a foreign citizen".

A special SINGLE fare is available for passengers who wish to purchase an entire sleeper compartment for solo travel. In this case, the fare for two seats and the cost of one set of services will be charged. The discount on the special tariff plan applies only to the fare, except for the amount of the service fee. An adult passenger with an electronic ticket (boarding pass in the form of a ticket) issued at a special SINGLE fare can obtain a non-cash ticket for a child under the age of 5 at ticket offices.

Fares on international services to/from CIS countries, the Republic of Abkhazia,  and the Republic of Mongolia are set in Swiss francs.

The fare is paid in roubles on the site and in the application at the official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on the day you book your e-ticket.

Passengers receive information about the carriage owner when they select their carriage.

When purchasing electronic tickets on the website of OJSC Russian Railways, as well as through the mobile app for carriages, for which fares are established within the framework of the Dynamic Fare Management and Demand Stimulation System (DFMDSS), the final fare is determined after making a reservation (placing an order) on the payment page.

3. Booking electronic tickets under non-refundable tariffs

Booking electronic tickets for journeys in sleeping carriages, compartment carriages and carriages with seats is possible at non-refundable tariffs – tariffs that do not provide for fare refunds when returning unused tickets.

Booking non-cash, school or preferential electronic tickets for long-distance trains at non-refundable tariffs is not possible.

On the list of trains and carriages, a special icon is displayed next to that carriage where seats/berths can be booked at a non-refundable fare. The icon indicates the minimum ticket price for the Full (Non-refundable) fare.

On the passenger data entry page, select the Full (Non-refundable) tariff. When buying tickets for children from 5 to 10 years of age select Children (Non-refundable). If a child under 5 years of age occupies a separate seat/berth when travelling on a long-distance train, a ticket is issued for him/her at the Children’s (Non-refundable) Fare.

The user’s personal account contains a link "Get information about the refunds." On clicking this link, a pop-up window is displayed with information about the rules for ticket refunds and information about the amount of funds to be credited to the passenger’s card.

Should a passenger fail to embark on a journey booked under an e-ticket purchased at the non-refundable fare, s/he is refunded the amount for services or bed linen. The cost of processing the refund is deducted.

Refunds for unused or electronic tickets purchased at a non-refundable fare are not possible, except for:

  • cases of a passenger’s sudden illness, or of a family member travelling together with a passenger (spouse, parent (adoptive parent), or a child (adopted), the death of a family member (spouse, parent (adoptive parent), or a child (adopted), or an injury to a passenger as a result of an accident as confirmed by the relevant documents. In the event of such cases, the passenger has the right to a refund of the ticket cost minus the cost of the reserved seat, fee for services (if available on board the train) and other payments (except for the fee for reserving seats/berths on long-distance journeys) on returning the unused tickets to the ticket office of the railway station at which the passenger should have boarded no later than 5 days from the departure time of the train for which the ticket was purchased. The carrier also charges the passenger a fee for processing the refund of unused tickets;
  • cases of train departure cancellations or delays, or of a failure to provide a passenger with the seat/berth specified on such a ticket. In the event of such cases, on returning the unused ticket the passenger is entitled to a refund of the full fare (the ticket cost and the cost of the seat reservation), service charges (if any) and other payments without any fee deduction for issuing a refund for an unused ticket.

Re-booking e-tickets purchased at non-refundable tariffs is done on tickets purchased at non-refundable tariffs at ticket offices. A fee for re-booking is deducted.

Passengers who have booked e-tickets at non-refundable fares may make use of the same rules relating to stopping or interrupting a journey en route as any other passenger, as indicated in Part 2 of Article 83 of the Rail Transport Charter of the Russian Federation.

For tickets booked at a non-refundable fare, the control coupon of an electronic ticket displays the text with the additional information: "THE TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE".

4. Entering passenger data  

Please fill in carefully the details of all the passengers on the order. Before beginning the payment procedure, check once again that the information you have entered is correct. The carrier is obliged to refuse transportation in the event of incorrect data on the identity document, including the surname, first or Christian name, middle name or patronymic, date of birth, gender, citizenship and document number.

The passenger’s personal data must correspond to the data specified in the identity document. If the booking is carried out on the basis of the data of an international passport issued by the Russian Federation or a foreign document (issued outside the territory of the Russian Federation), passengers must use the Latin alphabet to book a journey between train stations in the Russian Federation, including in transit to Kaliningrad via the Republics of Belarus and Lithuania, as well as in international traffic. The "Patronymic" field is obligatory and must be completed using Latin letters as indicated in the document. If the passenger does not have a patronymic, check the box "I do not have a patronymic." If the passenger has a patronymic, but it is indicated in the national language in the document, the patronymic should be given in Latin letters in accordance with the transliteration rules.

In accordance with Paragraph 16 of the Rules for the Provision of Services for the Carriage of Passengers by Rail, as well as Cargo, Luggage and Cargo Luggage for Personal, Family, Household and Other Needs Not Related to Business Activities as approved by Decree No. 810 issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 27 May 2021, when booking a ticket for a long-distance train, it is mandatory to indicate the last name, first name, patronymic (if any), date of birth, citizenship, gender of the passenger and number of the identity document stated on the ticket. 

In accordance with Paragraph 28 of the Rules, if the last name, first name, patronymic (if any), date of birth, citizenship, gender of the passenger and the number of the identity document does or do not correspond to the last name, first name, patronymic (if any), date of birth, citizenship, gender or number of the identity document specified on the ticket presented, the passenger is not allowed to board the train.

When booking the e-tickets, a Birth Certificate is used only for the Russian Federation citizens under 14.

In order to inform passengers about changes to the train timetable in the event of emergencies and the like, passengers should indicate their mobile phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses when filling in their passenger details.

In the event of an error in the personal data of the passengers or their identity documents, you must enter the corrected information before making your payment.

When booking a ticket using the member number under the Russian Railways Bonus loyalty programme, passengers should note that if they have compound names (full name, double, triple, etc.), they must use a hyphen as a separator when filling out the passenger details (for example, Ivanov-Sidorov, Anna-Maria, etc.).

The person making the order bears full responsibility for entering the correct travel details and personal data of each passenger.

In particular please note that in the event of an error while entering the number of an identity document or other personal data, the passenger will not be able to obtain her boarding pass/ticket at the ticket office and complete here journey.

5. Payment of e-tickets

5.1. Payment by a bank card

You can pay for your e-tickets using the following bank cards: Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro bank, issued by the international payment systems Visa International and MasterCard International as well as a bank card issued by Mir, a national payment system. In the mobile app, it is possible to pay for electronic tickets using the Faster Payments System (SBP). Payment by a bank card is made after the order is verified and confirmed by redirecting you to the payment gateway of the bank VTB (PJSC). You will have 12 minutes to pay and enter your bank card details. If you exceed this period, your order is cancelled.

When paying for the order, please, enter the following bank card details: the first name and surname of the bank card holder, the card number, card expiry date and the card’s three-digit code (CVV2 or CVC2). For any details on the online payments using your bank card, or to get to know the reasons why your payment has been rejected, please contact your bank’s support service in the first place.

The security of the payment procedure is ensured by SSL, a protocol for encrypting traffic sent over the Internet.

Features of payment by Visa Electron and Maestro:

Make sure that your card has the CVV2 (CVC2) code on the reverse side of the card.

For the Attention of cardholders issued by foreign banks! In accordance with the requirements of international payment systems, in order to improve security when making payments, 3D Secure/Secure Code technology is used, which is a special technology for making secure payments on the Internet. If your bank does not have the appropriate certificate for using this technology, you may not be able to make your payment. If this occurs, please contact customer support at the bank that issued your card.

In accordance with the requirements of 3D Secure/Secure Codе technology, when paying for the order, the bank which issued the card may require the cardholder to undergo additional identification. The need for additional identification and how it is obtained are determined solely by the issuing bank. For more information about the identification procedure, card holders should contact customer support at the bank that issued the card.

If for some reason you have not received an order number, an e-ticket or a confirmation that your order has been accepted, go to "My Orders" before making a repeat order and ensure that the order was in fact not processed.

In the event of any issues concerning the debiting of funds when paying for the e-tickets, please contact the bank which issuer of the bank card used to pay for the order (the phone number is given on the reverse side of your card). VTB (PJSC) is an acquirer bank (it provides services involving transactions made using the payment cards), contact phone No.: 8 (800) 100-24-24.

6. Obtaining your e-ticket

After paying for your e-ticket, an e-ticket control coupon is generated which lists the number of your order (14 digits) and e-ticket (14 digits). If there is just one ticket on your order, the numbers on the order and e-ticket match. If the order is for 2-4 passengers, the numbers on the order and e-ticket match for the first passenger on the order.

If you have purchased a ticket on the website, a confirmation e-mail with an e-ticket receipt will be sent to the address indicated in your profile. This is an automated service.

Be sure to print the e-ticket control coupon or remember the order number/e-ticket.

In accordance with Decree No. 322 issued by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on 21.08.2012, the control coupon is a document of strict accountability and is used for making payments using bank cards without using cash register equipment.

E-ticket control coupons are not valid as tickets without a boarding pass. To receive a boarding pass, passengers must undertake electronic registration on their personal accounts on the Russian Railways’ website or in the app, or receive a boarding pass on a travel document form at a ticket office which is equipped with an Express system terminal (hereinafter referred to as the ticket office) located on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Users ordering e-tickets are acting on behalf of all the passengers on the booking. As such, all passengers on the booking are considered to have been informed about the terms and conditions covering boarding and travelling on the train.

6.1. Electronic registration of e-ticket

By their electronic registration for a train, passengers give their consent to travel on a train on the basis of a contract of carriage as confirmed by an electronic ticket. When registering electronically on the website or in the application, a boarding pass is issued in the form of a 2D code to the control coupon of an electronic ticket.

If no online registration is provided for a train, such train is marked with a sign "No online registration available. Please, get a ticket in a ticket office situated in Russia".

Online check-in is carried out:

  • on all services where the train and carriage do not contain the notice "Online check-in is not available on this route. Attention! Tickets must be collected at a ticket office located in the Russian Federation";
  • during the e-ticket ordering procedure after the "Payment" stage and at the same time for all passengers shown on the order.

If the electronic check-in service is available, boarding passes are issued at ticket offices:

  • if the time of return of the electronic ticket indicated on the control coupon coincides with the time of the train’s departure from the passenger's boarding station, then at any time from the moment the passenger purchases the electronic ticket until the train arrives at the passenger's destination station;
  • if the time of return of the electronic ticket indicated on the control coupon does not coincide with the time of the train’s departure from the passenger's boarding station, then boarding passes are not issued less than 1 hour before the train's departure from the initial station on the route.

Boarding under the e-tickets is organized in accordance with Section 10 provided the passenger registered online.

The e-tickets may be returned in accordance with Section 11 provided the passenger registered online.

6.2. Obtaining a boarding pass on a ticket form

If the online registration is not available for the train you chose, then to be able to board the train you should receive a boarding pass printed out on a ticket form in a booking office situated within the Russian Federation equipped with an Express system terminal (hereinafter the "ticket office") situated only within the Russian Federation (you may check up the open hours of the ticket office in the section "Ticket Offices and Terminals").

Upon receipt of their boarding pass tied to an electronic ticket from a ticket office on the ticket form, the electronic registration service is cancelled.

A travel document for the international routes (to/from the non CIS-countries) may be obtained only in the relevant international route ticket offices within the Russian Federation.

When issuing electronic tickets without electronic registration for travel from stations in the CIS countries, Abkhazia, passengers must obtain a boarding pass on the document of the established form at ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation.

To board Federal Passenger Company trains on Russian domestic services and on trains running between Russia and Abkhazia, Russia and Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, the presentation of a boarding pass is not required. Boarding is carried out upon presentation of the document certifying the identity of the passenger whose data were specified when the electronic ticket was booked and issued.

Attention! Be sure to print your control coupon or remember the e-ticket number (14 digits) which was used to issue the boarding pass on the ticket form.

If you lose the order form or forget the order number, go to the section "My Orders" on the site, log in using your password and find your order. If necessary, re-print the form.

Booking the boarding passes (tickets) is based on the control coupon or the e-ticket/order number (14 digits) made out to one of the passengers on the order under the identity document indicated on the order form, or to an authorised representative on the basis of a power of attorney or a notarised copy thereof. The original identity document or a notarized copy must be presented to the ticket agent.

Boarding passes (tickets, travel documents) for the entire booking, or individual e-tickets, can be collected at ticket offices and self-service terminals.

The passengers’ personal data may not be changed while obtaining the boarding passes in the ticket office.

No boarding passes (travel documents) are issued during the routine technological break of Express CPCS which starts at 3.30 a.m. and lasts till 4.00 a.m. Moscow time.

7. Booking places for children

No children under 10 are allowed to travel by the long-distance trains without an accompanying adult. A child's age is determined as at the first day of the journey.

Children travelling on domestic Russian routes and services to/from CIS countries and the Republic of Abkhazia:

The passenger who paid the Adult fare for the trip may take one child under 5 years old on a free of charge basis provided the child does not occupy a separate seat/berth. The child is then issued a free e-ticket not providing for a separate seat/berth and the relevant e-ticket is included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare.

When registering travel in a luxury carriage Class 1А, 1М or 1И (registration is made with the purchase of an entire compartment in which one or two passengers can travel). Two children up to 10 years of age can travel in a compartment with adult passengers without occupying a seat/berth without paying any fare. Passengers who have not purchased an e-ticket for a child under the age of 5 (10) who will not occupy a separate seat can obtain a non-cash travel document for that child, provided that the passenger has an e-ticket (boarding pass) and paid the respective Adult fare.

At the request of the passenger, a child under the age of 5 can be issued an e-ticket providing for a seat/berth at the Child fare and such e-ticket will be included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare.

If case there are one or more children of 5 10 y.o. travelling, an e-ticket must be issued for each child by paying the Child fare.

A child of 5 – 10 y.o. must be issued an e-ticket providing for a separate seat/berth at the Child fare and such e-ticket will be included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare.

For children aged 10 and older, the e-tickets are issued at the Adult fare.

Children on international routes (non-CIS countries):

When travelling by the trains No. 306 Irkutsk Ulaanbaatar:

  • The passenger may take one child under 4 y.o. free of charge if the child does not occupy a separate seat/berth. In this case the child is issued a free e-ticket which does not provide for a separate seat/berth, and such e-ticket will be included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare;
  • If a passenger does not book an e-ticket not providing for a separate seat/berth for a child under 4 y.o., he/she can obtain a free ticket at a ticket office upon presenting an e-ticket (a travel document) bought at the Adult fare;
  • At the request of the passenger, a child under the age of 4 y.o. may be issued an e-ticket providing for a seat/berth at the Child fare and such e-ticket will be included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare;
  • If case there are one or more children of 4 12 y.o. travelling, an e-ticket must be issued for each child at the Child fare and such e-tickets must be included in the order comprising the e-ticket bought at the Adult fare;
  • For the children of 12 and older, the e-tickets are issued at the Adult fare.

No travel documents for the transportation of children are issued for the Single 1/1 category.

7.1. Booking electronic tickets for children aged 10 to 18 (including schoolchildren)

Domestic Services:

1) When purchasing tickets for children and organised groups of children aged 10 to 18 who are citizens of the Russian Federation, a 50% discount shall be applied to the fare for an adult passenger on domestic services (from/to stations in the Russian Federation on trains formed by carriers in the Russian Federation). The discount shall be provided on long-distance trains of all categories (except high-speed and fast) in reserved seat/berth, general and 2nd and 3rd class carriages which are part of motor-car rolling stock.

2) When travelling on long-distance trains of all categories (except high-speed and fast) in double-decker passenger carriages using locomotive traction with 4-seat/berth compartments on domestic services, a 50% discount shall apply to the fare for an adult passenger in a reserved seat/berth carriage for the same distance.

3) When booking electronic tickets at a discounted rate, the discount shall be applied automatically when specifying the “full” fare and entering information about children – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18.

4) When children – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18 – travel on domestic routes (from/to stations in the Russian Federation) on trains operated by carriers from the CIS countries, the specified discount shall be applied only to the cost of a ticket within the territory of the Russian Federation. The cost of a reserved seat/berth within the territory of the Russian Federation is charged in accordance with the Interstate Passenger Tariff.

5) Providing a certificate of a student at a school (general education institution) is not required.

6) The specified discount shall be provided when booking both single and return tickets only at ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation, or through Russian information resources on the Internet.

International Services:

7) When children – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18 – travel on international services to and from the CIS countries, Abkhazia (between stations located on the territory of the Russian Federation and stations located on the territory of the CIS countries, Abkhazia) on trains operated by carriers in the Russian Federation, the said discount shall be applied to the cost of a ticket on the territory of the Russian Federation and the cost of a reserved seat/berth for the entire route. The cost of a ticket on the territory of other countries shall be charged in accordance with the Interstate Passenger Tariff.

8) When children – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18 – travel on international services with the CIS countries (between stations located on the territory of the Russian Federation and stations located on the territory of the CIS countries) on trains operated by carriers of the CIS countries, the said discount shall apply only to the cost of a ticket on the territory of the Russian Federation. The cost of a ticket for travel on the territory of other countries and the cost of a reserved seat/berth for the entire route shall be charged in accordance with the Interstate Passenger Tariff.

9) When booking electronic tickets at a discounted rate, the discount shall be applied automatically when specifying the “full” rate and entering information about children – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18.

10) Providing a certificate of a student at a school (general education institution) is not required.

11) The specified discount shall be provided when booking both single and return tickets only at ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation, or through Russian information resources on the Internet.

7.2 Booking electronic tickets for children up to 10 years of age

1) A passenger has the right to transport free of charge* 1 child under the age of 5, if he/she does not occupy a separate seat/berth in a compartment, sleeping compartment, reserved seat and in general and seated carriages, and under 10 in luxury class carriages. To travel, it is necessary to book a free ticket for the child.

2) A passenger has the right to transport children up to 10 years of age in separate seats/ berths with payment in accordance with the children’s fare. When purchasing tickets for children, the cost of services and bed linen is charged in full.

* The children’s fare applies to travel on domestic routes (from/to stations in the Russian Federation) on trains operated by carriers of the Russian Federation only to children up to 10 years of age who are citizens of the Russian Federation upon presentation of a birth certificate with a note confirming citizenship of the Russian Federation.

In sleeping compartments, compartments, reserved seat and general carriages (with seats/berths), the fare for transporting children who are citizens of the Russian Federation is 35% of the full (adult) fare.

The child's age is determined on the day the trip begins. If the child turns 5 on the day of the train's departure, a ticket is issued for him/her without charging a fee, unless the child occupies a separate seat/berth.

If the child turns 10 on the day of the train's departure, a ticket is issued for him/her at the fare for transporting children. In other cases, from the moment the child reaches the age of ten, a ticket is issued for the child with a discount established for the travel of children aged 10 to 18.

3) When children aged 5 to 10 who are not citizens of the Russian Federation travel on trains operated by carriers of the CIS countries on domestic routes (from/to stations of the Russian Federation), the cost of the reserved seat/berth component of the fare is set at the rates of the Interstate Passenger Tariff for the transportation of children. The cost of the ticket part of the fare is set at the rate for the transportation of an adult passenger in domestic traffic.

4) When children aged 5 to 10 who are not citizens of the Russian Federation travel on services to/from the Kaliningrad Region (from/to stations of the Russian Federation), the cost of the ticket component of the fare through the territory of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania (transit) is set at the rates of the Interstate Passenger Tariff for the transportation of children. The ticket part of the fare through the territory of the Russian Federation and the reserved seat/berth part of the fare for the entire route is issued at the rate for the transportation of an adult passenger on domestic services.

8. Passport, administrative (visa) and customs regulations

Passengers are obliged to comply with the passport, administrative (including visa), customs and other regulations when travelling by rail on international routes. This applies to the passengers as well as to their hand luggage, baggage and commercial luggage. The carrier is not entitled to monitor compliance with these regulations except in pursuance of international agreements in the field of rail transport and is not responsible for the failure of passengers to comply with these rules.

Before booking journeys on international routes, passengers should check the rules and procedures for crossing international borders (including transit countries) with the relevant competent executive bodies or consular departments of the relevant embassies.

When children under the age of 18 are travelling on international routes or on domestic Russian routes which transit CIS countries ("TRANSIT THROUGH CIS"), passengers must have the necessary documents for crossing state borders, including the notarised consent of parents (or guardians) to cross the border of the Russian Federation.

When travelling by the trains servicing the routes to/from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Abkhazia, the passenger must present the following identity papers:

  • ПН the Russian Federation passport;
  • ЗП an international passport issued to a citizen of the Russian Federation including any diplomatic and service passports;
  • ЗЗ   a foreign document issued to the citizens of the CIS countries, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia and any foreign countries.
  • ПМ a seafarer's certificate of identification.

When travelling by the trains servicing the routes to/from the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the non-CIS countries, the passenger must present the following identity papers:

  • ЗП an international passport issued to a citizen of the Russian Federation including any diplomatic and service passports;
  • ЗЗ a foreign document issued to the citizens of the CIS countries, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia and any foreign countries.
  • ПМ a seafarer's certificate of identification.

9. Booking electronic tickets to Kaliningrad region

Attention! The conditions for passengers travelling to and from the Kaliningrad Region in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania are undergoing temporary changes.

When registering and booking travel to and from the Kaliningrad Region in transit through Lithuania, passengers should use the Latin alphabet if the personal data on the document(s) are indicated in two languages.

In accordance with Order No. V-135/1V-332 issued on 23 May 2025 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania “On Amending Order No. V-101/1V-397 “On The Description of the Procedure for Recognising Travel Documents Granting the Right to Enter the Republic of Lithuania and Approving the List of Travel Documents Granting the Right to Enter the Republic of Lithuania” issued on 21 November 2007 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, from 1 June 2025, non-biometric passports issued by the Russian Federation are not recognised as documents granting the right to enter the Republic of Lithuania.

The requirement to have a biometric passport issued by the Russian Federation does not apply to citizens of the Russian Federation who have a Simplified Rail Travel Document (hereinafter referred to as the SRTD).

In accordance with Paragraph 2 of the Rules for Booking and Issuing Tickets to Passengers and Boarding Trains when Travelling to the Kaliningrad Region from the Rest of the Territory of the Russian Federation in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania and in the opposite direction by Rail, as approved by Decree No. 361 issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 23 June 2003, citizens of the Russian Federation can travel in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania when in possession of the following documents, which give the right to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania:

  • A visa issued by the Republic of Lithuania;
  • A residence permit issued by the Republic of Lithuania;
  • An Accreditation Card of category "A" or "B" issued by the Republic of Lithuania;
  • A Simplified Transit Document or Simplified Railway Ticket (STD-RT*).

*The STD-RT is a special permit that the Republic of Lithuania can issue to citizens of the Russian Federation for a one-time journey from the Russian Federation to the Kaliningrad region or to return from the Kaliningrad region to the Russian Federation by rail.

At the request of Lithuania, passengers, must in addition fill out the electronic form of the STD-RT questionnaire on the website, entering their last name and first name in capital Latin letters (copying them from their foreign passport), and then print out and sign the form. The completed form must be given to the train staff.

When crossing the state border of the Republic of Lithuania, passengers, along with their foreign passport, must also provide a printed copy of the STD-RT received from the conductor of their passenger carriage. The booking and issuance of electronic tickets with the STD-RT ends 28 hours before the train’s departure.

Additional information for passengers traveling from the Kaliningrad Region can be obtained on the website of the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaliningrad and by telephone: +7 (4012) 95 94 84 from 8:00 to 12:00.

In accordance with the Decree No. 1486 "On Amendments to the Rules for Issuing Travel Documents (Tickets) to passengers and their boarding on trains when travelling to the Kaliningrad Region from the rest of the Russian Federation in transit through the Territory of the Republic of Lithuania and Opposite Direction by Rail" issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 7 December 2017, the website of OJSC Russian Railways can book/issue electronic tickets with electronic registration for trains operated by JSC FPC running in transit with the Kaliningrad Region through the territories of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania.

Electronic registration is carried out along the entire route and ends no later than 15 minutes before the train departs from the passenger boarding station.

In the absence of documents giving the right to transit travel through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, the booking/issuance of electronic tickets end 28 hours before the train’s departure.

The passenger’s personal data are also transferred to the Consular Departments of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Moscow and the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaliningrad in order to issue a Simplified Rail Travel Document which gives passengers the right to travel in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

Passengers are personally responsible for having a document giving the right to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

Documents required for Russian citizens travelling to the Kaliningrad Region or from the Kaliningrad Region in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania:

1. Electronic travel document (ticket).

2. An identification document of the passenger whose details are indicated on the travel document (ticket). These include:

  • diplomatic passport;
  • service passport;
  • foreign passport of the Russian Federation;
  • mariner’s identity card (with an entry in the ship’s roll or a duly certified extract therefrom);
  • certificate of return (for a one-time return journey to the Russian Federation).

Children under the age of 14 are issued electronic travel documents based on the child’s foreign passport.

3. Documents giving the right to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania include:

  • Schengen visa;
  • visa issued by the Republic of Lithuania;
  • residence permit issued by the Republic of Lithuania;
  • accreditation card of category "A" or "B" of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Simplified Transit Document (STD);
  • Simplified Rail Travel Document (STD-RT*).

The validity period of the identity document of a citizen of the Russian Federation must exceed the validity period of the document permitting transit travel through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

* STD-RT is a special permit that the Republic of Lithuania can issue to citizens of the Russian Federation for a single journey from the Russian Federation to the Kaliningrad Region and return from the Kaliningrad Region to the Russian Federation by rail. A "single journey" refers to a single one-way journey or a round return journey. A copy of the STD-RT is valid for no more than three months for a single one-way journey and is issued free of charge on transit trains by the carriage conductor before crossing the state border of the Republic of Lithuania. The decision to issue a STD-RT is made by the consular departments of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Moscow and the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaliningrad based on information transmitted through railway ticket offices in the Russian Federation or a personal account on the website of OJSC Russian Railways.

The STD-RT can only be used when traveling on regular transit trains on the following routes:

  • Moscow – Kaliningrad (Train No. 29);
  • Moscow – Kaliningrad (Train No. 147);
  • St. Petersburg – Kaliningrad (Train No. 79);
  • Chelyabinsk – Kaliningrad (Train No. 425);
  • Adler – Kaliningrad (Train No. 360S);
  • Kaliningrad – Moscow (Train No. 30);
  • Kaliningrad – Moscow (Train No. 148);
  • Kaliningrad – St. Petersburg (Train No. 80);
  • Kaliningrad – Chelyabinsk (Train No. 426);
  • Kaliningrad – Adler (Train No. 360CH).

Booking/Issuance of electronic travel documents (tickets) for travel to the Kaliningrad Region or from the Kaliningrad Region in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania

1. Purchasing an electronic travel document (ticket) in the absence of a document giving the right to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

Electronic travel documents for travel to and from the Kaliningrad region are sold on the website and at ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation.

At some train stations, specialised ticket offices may be assigned to book/issue tickets to the Kaliningrad Region. When issuing an electronic travel document, the passenger’s personal data, train number and departure date are reported to the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Moscow. Less than 24 hours before the train’s departure, passengers can obtain information about whether they are allowed to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania on the website in their personal account or at a ticket office of Russia’s railways which has the Express system.

In this regard, the following deadlines for ticket sales have been established:

  • from 90 days and no later than 28 hours before the train departs from the train formation or turnaround;
  • at an intermediate station from 3 days and no later than 28 hours before the train departs from the point of train formation or turnaround.

If a decision is made to refuse the issue a STD-RT, the passenger can submit an electronic travel document on the website in his personal account or at a ticket office located on the territory of the Russian Federation and receive the full cost of the electronic travel document.

2. Purchasing a ticket if the passenger has a document giving the right to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

If passengers have the documents entitling them to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, the booking/issuance of electronic travel documents ends 15 minutes before the train departs.

The following deadlines for ticket sales have been established:

  • from 90 days until the train departs from the train formation or turnaround;
  • from 3 days until the train departs from the intermediate station.

Children travelling to the Kaliningrad region in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania

Travel documents (tickets) and electronic tickets for children under 14 years of age are sold to the persons accompanying them. Children under 5 years of age that do not occupy a separate seat are issued a separate electronic travel document (ticket) without indication of the seat number and without paying the fare.

Passengers must provide the children’s foreign passports to book tickets for children under 14 years of age.

Transportation of medicines through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania

The Customs Service of the Republic of Lithuania has tightened the procedure for transporting medicines through the territory of the country.

In this regard, OJSC Russian Railways recommends that Russian citizens travelling in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania pay particular attention to the new list of medicines allowed for transportation.

At all points of sale of railway tickets, stands with background information about the new procedure for transporting medicines have been installed. In addition, explanatory work is being carried out.

This restriction does not include a ban on the use of Valocordin and Corvalol for personal purposes when transiting through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania. Even in cases where it is necessary to transport these drugs in transit in quantities exceeding personal needs, difficulties should not arise for those citizens who properly declare these drugs when entering and leaving the country.

10. Boarding the train

Under the contract of carriage, the carrier undertakes to transport the passenger to her destination and provide her with a place on the train.

Passengers must embark and disembark from the carriages located alongside the passenger platform.

When boarding long-distance trains, including en route, passengers must present a properly issued boarding pass from an electronic ticket and the identity document which was used to purchase the electronic ticket (for children under the age of 14 notarised copies of the birth certificates can be presented) indicating the passenger’s surname and the number of the identity document.

To board Federal Passenger Company trains on Russian domestic services and on trains running between Russia and Abkhazia, Russia and Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, the presentation of a boarding pass is not required. Boarding is carried out upon presentation of the document certifying the identity of the passenger whose data were specified when the electronic ticket was booked and issued.

The passenger travelling on the basis of an e-ticket and registered online who presented at the checkpoint any identity paper not consistent with the information on the e-tickets which the car attendant has on his/her hands is considered to be a toll evader.

If the surname, first name, patronymic (if the passenger has one), date of birth, citizenship, gender of the passenger or number of the identity document do not match the surname, first name, patronymic (if the passenger has one), date of birth, citizenship, gender of the passenger or number of the identity document specified on the document presented for travel (ticket), the passenger will not be able to board a long-distance or commuter train with assigned seating unless the information on the document presented for travel (ticket) is changed (corrected) accordingly.

In cases where there are discrepancies between the data from the passenger’s identity document and the data specified on electronic tickets as available to the carriage conductor (no more than one letter in the surname and no more than one number in the number), the passenger is allowed to travel on a long-distance train or suburban service with an indication of the seat(s)/berth(s) locations.

If the ticket is issued on the basis of the details from a birth certificate, but at the time of boarding the train the child is 14 years old, in the case of children who are citizens of the Russian Federation, they can board trains operated by OJSC Russian Railways and the Federal Passenger Company (with the exception of journeys to and from Kaliningrad region in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania) upon presentation of a properly issued ticket and birth certificate (or its notarised copy) within 90 days after the day they reach the age of 14. The presentation of a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is not required.

Boarding the train after electronic registration:

  • To board Federal Passenger Company trains on Russian domestic services and on trains running between Russia and Abkhazia, Russia and Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, the presentation of a boarding pass is not required. Boarding is carried out upon presentation of the document certifying the identity of the passenger whose data were specified when the electronic ticket was booked and issued;
  • As regards the trains servicing the domestic routes within the territory of the Russian Federation, the passengers board the train upon presentation of their e-ticket boarding pass printed out on paper (A4 format), or upon showing the same on their mobile device display, and upon presentation of their identity paper mentioned in the e-ticket (as regards children under 14, such passengers may board the train after presenting a notarized copy of their Birth Certificate);
  • As regards the trains servicing the routes between Russia and Belarus (except for the trains of the JSC Federal Passenger Company), Russia and Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan and Russia and Uzbekistan, the passengers board the train after presenting the identity paper used to book the e-ticket. When boarding the train, the passengers must have a hard copy of their order form (A4 format) containing their journey details;
  • As regards the trains No. 306 Irkutsk – Ulaanbaatar the passengers board such trains/cars upon presentation of a hard copy (А4 format) e-ticket boarding pass and an identification document specified on the e-ticket;

Boarding the train with a boarding pass on a ticket form:

  • as regards the trains servicing the domestic routes within the territory of the Russian Federation, the passengers board the train after presenting their boarding pass printed out on a ticket form and their identity paper used to book the electronic ticket (as regards children under 14, such passengers may board the train after presenting a notarized copy of their Birth Certificate);
  • as regards the trains servicing the routes to/from the CIS countries, the Republic of Abkhazia, the passengers board the train upon presentation of a boarding pass printed out on a ticket form and of an identity paper used to book the e-ticket;
  • as regards the trains servicing the international routes (to/from the non-CIS countries), the passengers board the trains upon presentation of a boarding pass printed out on a ticket form and of an identity paper used to issue an e-ticket.

The e-tickets are not transferable to any third parties and are valid only upon presentation of the relevant identity papers of the passengers. The e-tickets are not subject to resale.

11. Refunds on unused e-tickets

Refunds for unused e-tickets are credited to the bank card used to make the payment for the e-ticket in the period established by the rules governing the relevant payment systems (from 7 to 30 calendar days from the time the passenger requests a refund on her personal account on the site).

If it is impossible to return an electronic ticket on the website or through the application in the client’s personal account, a refund can be made at the ticket offices.

WARNING! To settle claims for returned unused e-tickets which have not been credited to their bank card, passengers should send a claim in writing to the bank which issued their card.

WARNING! When returning unused e-tickets issued free of charge to children up to 5 years of age without occupying a separate place, no fee is deducted from the refund.

11.1. Refunds on unused e-tickets using the passenger's personal account on the site or the Аpp

11.2. Returning unused e-tickets to a ticket office

The unused e-tickets may be returned to a booking office which carries out the ticket return procedures situated within the territory of the Russian Federation upon presentation of a control coupon or a number of the e-ticket/order and an identity paper which number is shown on the e-ticket subject to compliance with the approved periods. The unused e-tickets for the international routes (to/from the non-CIS countries) may only be returned to the international route ticket offices.

Refunds can be made both for a complete order, and a specific e-ticket on an order.

Refunds for the order as a whole are made for all e-tickets on the order, with the exception of e-tickets for which boarding passes (tickets) were issued at the ticket office.

In the event that a passenger has received a boarding pass on a ticket form, the refund is made upon the passenger presenting this form at a ticket office, together with an identity document.

The e-tickets booked for Sapsan train at a special round trip fare are to be returned pursuant to the following procedure:

  • if the passenger presents the e-tickets for the round trip or a return ticket at the ticket office, the funds are duly credited to the payer’s account used to transfer the payment or are refunded to the payer’s e-wallet;
  • if the passenger presents a single ticket at the ticket office, he/she is issued a confirmation certifying that the seat/berth was returned and the relevant funds are refunded under the passenger’s claim (Claim template). The claim and the documents confirming the return of the seat/berth are transferred to a ticket agent or are sent by mail to the Northwestern Directorate for High-speed Service (a structural subdivision of the Directorate for High-speed Services) using the following mailing address: PO Box No. 78, 87A/2 Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg 191036.

The passenger gets a refund less a 20% reduction of the return fare. The passenger is charged a fee for transfer of a refund in connection with an unused travel document.

The procedure for the return and refund of electronic tickets booked for carriages in the Sleeper Compartment/Lux category of the carrier RZD Tour LLC at the special Single fare is as follows:

  • it is possible to receive refunds for two seats/berths at once as reflected on one ticket;
  • no refunds for one seat/berth out of two booked seats/berths, reflected on one ticket, are possible.

When returning unused electronic tickets issued and booked for domestic trains within the territory of the Russian Federation and international trains with the CIS countries and the Republic of Abkhazia within the established time limit, the cost of services (including bed linen) is refunded in full and fee of 3 roubles 20 kopecks is charged for each seat/berth. The rate is set by Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (the FAS).

If the unused e-tickets for the international trains servicing the routes to/from the CIS countries, are returned in the ticket offices situated within the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the relevant seats/berths connected with the unused e-tickets are returned as follows in case of the online registration – at least 1 hour before the departure of the train from the first station of the route (with the exception of Federal Passenger Company trains between Russia and Belarus, Russia and Abkhazia, Russia and Kazakhstan).

In order to obtain a refund, passengers must contact ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation, regardless of the type of payment used to settle the fare, and present a supporting document form confirming the return of seats/berths in another country. If the payment was made using a bank card, the funds are credited to the payer’s current account within the time limits established by the respective payment system’s rules (from 7 to 30 calendar days) from the date a supporting document form confirming the return of seats in another country has been presented to a ticket office located on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The travel documents booked for travelling in a compartment and business meeting rooms of Sapsan high-speed train (service classes 1Р and 1П) may only be returned if all the 4 berths are cancelled simultaneously.

Tickets for travel in suites and premium compartments of Sapsan high-speed trains (service class 1Ж and 1Е) are only reimbursable if all (both) seats are returned at the same time.

Tickets can be reimbursed online under the special Birthday discount for Sapsan and Retropoezd trains. The procedure is the same as for the reimbursement of tickets under the Birthday discount at ticket offices – i.e., the ticket of the person celebrating their birthday does not need to be returned to obtain the refund.

In case two berths were booked in a Luxury (business) carriage compartment of any train servicing the international routes (to/from the non CIS-countries), the cancellation of one of two of such berths is not allowed. The cost of the unused e-tickets booked to travel in a Luxury (business) carriage is refunded only if the passenger presents simultaneously the e-tickets for the berths in one compartment at any international route ticket office.

When returning unused electronic tickets booked and issued for international services (non-CIS countries) for train No. 306 Irkutsk - Ulaanbaatar, a fee of 5 Swiss francs will be charged.

This fee is charged in RUB at the exchange rate set by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation as at the day of refund.

When returning an unused e-ticket booked for any train servicing the domestic routes within the territory of the Russian Federation to a ticket office:

  • if the e-ticket is returned at least 8 hours before the departure of the train – the amount of fare comprising the ticket price and the cost of the reserved seat ticket;
  • if the e-ticket is returned at least 8 hours and not later than 2 hours before the departure of the train – the ticket price and 50% of the cost of the reserved seat ticket;
  • if the e-ticket is returned less than 2 hours before the departure of the train – the price of the ticket; the cost of the reserved seat ticket is non-refundable in such case;
  • if the passenger misses the train and returns the e-ticket within 12 hours after the train departs from the passenger’s boarding station, or in case of the passenger’s illness or any accident (subject to the presence of any documentary evidence thereof), and the passenger returns the relevant e-ticket within 5 days after the departure of the train for which he/she was issued a travel document – the ticket price; the cost of the reserved seat ticket is non-refundable in such case. Refunds are only made at the ticket office at the passenger's departure station.

Attention! When you return an unused e-ticket to the ticket office less than 1 hour before the departure of the train from the first station of the route and you passed the online registration for a train servicing the domestic Russian routes, and if the time of return of the ticket indicated on the control coupon differs from the time of the train’s departure from the passenger's boarding station, the relevant amounts are refunded under a passenger’s claim pursuant to the procedure approved by the carrier. The relevant claim must be written on behalf of the passenger (in any format) whose surname, name and patronymic are specified in the e-ticket. Such claim must contain the following data: the address of the claimant (including the postal code), his/her contact telephone number, numbers of the relevant e-tickets, the reason for the cancellation of the trip. The passenger must put the date of execution of the claim and sign the same. The amounts connected with the considered claim are refunded to the settlement account of the payer used to pay for the e-tickets.

When returning to a ticket office unused e-tickets for international services with countries and/or trains (carriages) operated by railway companies from the CIS and the Republic of Abkhazia refunds are credited to passengers' bank cards:

  • if the e-ticket is returned at least 24 hours before the departure of the train – the ticket price comprising the ticket price and the cost of the reserved seat ticket;
  • if the e-ticket is returned less than 24 hours but not later than 6 hours before the departure of the train – the ticket price and 50% of the cost of the reserved seat ticket;
  • if the e-ticket is returned less than 6 hours before but not later than 1 hour after the departure of the train from the passenger’s boarding station, or in case of the passenger’s illness or any accident - within 10 days after the expiration of the term of validity of the supporting documents – the ticket price; the cost of the reserved seat ticket is non-refundable in such case.

Attention! No refunds are made on unused e-tickets with electronic registration for trains on services to/from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan less than 1 hour before the train's departure from the train's starting station (except for the trains of the JSC Federal Passenger Company).

Attention! The unused e-tickets for the international trains servicing the following routes: to/from the CIS countries, may be returned in the ticket offices situated within the territory of the Republic of Belarus (with the exception of Federal Passenger Company trains between Russia and Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan), the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan as follows: online registration – the e-ticket must be returned at least 1 hour before the departure of the train from the first station of the route; no online registration – the e-ticket must be returned within 1 hour after the departure of the train from the passenger’s boarding station. The monetary funds shall be returned in the ticket offices situated within the Russian Federation regardless of the payment method under a supporting document confirming the cancellation of the seats/berths.

Any unused e-ticket may be returned to the ticket offices within the territory of the CIS countries and Abkhazia (except for the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan) upon presentation of a boarding pass printed out on a ticket form. In such case the seats/berths are cancelled without any refunds. To get the refund in the amount of the relevant funds credited to the payer’s settlement account used to transfer payment for the e-ticket, the passenger should apply to a ticket office within the Russian Federation within 6 months after the date of departure of the train and should present the seats/berths cancellation form, an unused boarding pass printed out on a ticket form and any identity paper of the passenger.

When returning to ticket offices unused e-tickets for travel on international routes (non-CIS countries), refunds are credited to passengers' bank cards:

  • no later than 6 hours before the departure of the train – the full cost of travel, consisting of the ticket cost and the cost of the seat/berth reservation (with a deduction of the refund fee);
  • less than 6 hours before the departure of the train designated on the ticket – no refund is made.

Attention! When returning e-tickets with electronic registration less than 1 hour before the train's departure from the starting station and more than 6 hours before the train's departure from the station where the passenger boarded the train (local time), refunds on unused e-tickets are made using the complaints procedure.

12. E-ticket travel renewal in case a passenger missed a train

If a passenger missed a train:

  • servicing the domestic routes, and the passenger informed the relevant persons of such situation within 12 hours after the departure of the train connected with the e-ticket, and the passenger wishes to renew the ticket, then he/she should return the e-ticket to the ticket office at the passenger’s departure station. If the passenger missed the train, the e-ticket should be returned in accordance with the approved railway regulations for return of the tickets.

The e-ticket is returned upon the passenger’s presentation at the ticket office of the e-ticket control coupon or a 14-digit e-ticket number and the passenger’s identity papers.

To renew the ticket at the ticket office:

  • the e-ticket control coupon or the control coupon of the travel document must be stamped with a mark of renewal;
  • the passenger must pay the cost of the reserved seat ticket.

The validity of a ticket for another long-distance train is renewed at the ticket office at the departure station indicated on the ticket.

The passenger boards a train upon presentation of an e-ticket control coupon or a control coupon of the travel document bearing a relevant mark as well as a reserved seat ticket and the passenger’s identity paper specified when booking the e-ticket.

  • servicing the international routes to/from the CIS countries, and the e-ticket was bought in the ticket offices situated within the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the passenger informed the relevant persons that he/she missed the train within 1 hour after the departure of the train connected with the e-ticket (regardless of whether the passenger registered online or not), and such passenger wishes to renew the ticket the seats/berths are cancelled at the ticket offices of the passenger’s departure station.

To renew the ticket at the ticket office:

  • the e-ticket control coupon must be stamped with a mark of renewal;
  • the passenger must pay the cost of the reserved seat ticket.

The passenger boards a train upon presentation of an e-ticket control coupon bearing a relevant mark as well as a reserved seat ticket and the passenger’s identity papers specified when drawing up the e-ticket.

13. Stopovers under the e-tickets

When travelling on the domestic routes

To renew a ticket after a stopover on the route 3 hours after the arrival of the train which the passenger boarded, the passenger has to return the e-ticket to a ticket office.

The e-ticket is returned upon presentation by the passenger at the ticket office of the e-ticket control coupon or a 14-digit e-ticket number and the passenger’s identity papers.

The returned e-ticket control coupon or a control coupon of a travel document must be stamped with a mark of stopover and renewal of the validity term of the ticket/document.

To renew the travel at the ticket office the passenger pays the cost of the reserved seat/berth ticket.

The passenger boards a train upon presentation of the e-ticket control coupon or the control coupon of the travel document, a reserved seat/berth ticket and the passenger’s identity paper specified when booking the e-ticket.

When travelling by the trains servicing the international routes to/from the CIS countries

If the passenger makes a stopover on the route and wishes the term of validity of his/her e-ticket to be renewed, the attendant of the car which the passenger boarded stamps the e-ticket control coupon with a mark of stopover.

In order to renew the travel after a stopover on the route within 3 hours after the arrival of the train which the passenger boarded, the ticket offices situated within the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan:

  • may cancel the relevant seats/berths under an e-ticket control coupon bearing a stamp of stopover on the route;
  • stamp the e-ticket control coupon with a mark of stopover and renewal of the term of validity of the e-ticket.

To renew the ticket at the ticket office:

  • the passenger pays the cost of the reserved seat/berth ticket in the national currency of the country where he/she is being issued a reserved seat ticket;
  • the e-ticket control coupon is stamped with a mark confirming that the reserved seat/berth ticket was issued.

The passenger boards a train upon presentation of an e-ticket control coupon bearing three relevant marks as well as a reserved seat/berth ticket and the passenger’s identity paper specified when booking the e-ticket.

14. Termination of a travel under an e-ticket

If the passenger travelling by the trains servicing the international routes to/from the CIS countries, wishes to cancel any further part of the travel at any station on the route, the attendant of the car which such passenger boarded stamp the e-ticket with a mark confirming termination of the travel by the passenger.

Within 3 hours after the arrival of the train which the passenger boarded the ticket offices situated within the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan may:

  • cancel the seats/berths under an e-ticket control coupon bearing a mark of suspension of the travel;
  • stamp the e-ticket control coupon with a mark confirming the termination of the e-ticket’s term of validity at the station of termination of the travel.

The funds for the remaining part of the route are refunded in the ticket office of the state where the relevant e-ticket was bought regardless of the method of payment therefor under a supporting document confirming the cancellation of the seats/berths.

15. Re-booking electronic tickets

Rebooking and reissuing electronic tickets can be carried out on the website and using the mobile app, as well as at the ticket office at the departure station indicated on the electronic ticket.

Rebooking and reissuing electronic tickets for another passenger is not allowed.

If additional services were booked and issued for previously purchased tickets, such as the transportation of small pets, luggage, meals and insurance, etc., in order to reissue and rebook electronic tickets, passengers must first return the services and only then rebook the electronic ticket.

When travelling on domestic Russian trains

Rebooking and reissuing electronic tickets for a previously departing train is carried out to the station indicated on the ticket, in the carriage of the carrier for which the original ticket was issued, if there are less than 24 hours left before the departure of this train.

Rebooking and reissuing electronic tickets is made no earlier than 24 hours and before the train departs from the passenger boarding station when travelling on domestic Russian trains.

If a ticket is reissued for a train or a type or class of carriage in a higher category or for a different train route without changing the destination station, the passenger will be charged the difference in the fare.

If the changed train or type or class of carriage is in a lower category or along another shorter train route without changing the destination station, the fare difference will be refunded to the passenger.

Payments for rebooking e-tickets are carried out in the form in which the payment for the electronic ticket was originally made.

The fee for rebooking and reissuing an electronic ticket is 222 roubles 70 kopecks for one electronic ticket. The rate is set by Russia’s FAS.

When travelling on international services with the CIS countries

Rebooking an electronic ticket with electronic registration can be done no earlier than 24 hours and no later than 1 hour before the train departs from the initial station on its route.

At ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, rebooking an electronic ticket can be done at the departure station indicated on the electronic ticket.

Payments for rebooking are made in the national currency of the country where the ticket was booked.

Refunds for the original electronic ticket are made at ticket offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation on the basis of a form of a supporting document confirming the return of seats/berths.

16. Drawing up the electronic carriage documents

The passengers may draw up the electronic carriage documents on the web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app.

The fee for processing a refund for an unused ticket is 303 roubles 00 kopecks. The rate is set by Russia’s FAS.

Before drawing up the electronic carriage documents on the web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app the passenger may review the following information:

  • whether the trains of JSC FPC have any passenger coaches with the compartments suitable for the transportation of the luggage, and may also check the availability of the vacant places by reviewing the carriage schemes;
  • whether it is allowed to take small pets on the trains of JSC FPC (depends on the service class of the coach);
  • whether JSC FPC have any car carriers for transportation of the vehicles, and if such car carriers have any vacant places;
  • fare amounts.

16.1. Drawing up the electronic carriage documents on the web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app

The web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app provides the passenger with an opportunity to draw up the electronic carriage documents (the control coupons of the electronic luggage stubs) for the transportation of the following:

  • small pets;
  • hand luggage at an extra fee (electronic and household appliances, video and audio equipment according to Clause 179-180 of the Regulations For the Rail Carriage of the Passengers, Luggage, Freight Baggage);
  • oversized baggage under the special terms (baby carriages (strollers), bicycles, kayaks, etc.).

Booking electronic tickets for domestic trains operated by the carrier the Federal Passenger Company through the website of Russian Railways and the mobile app can be done no later than 15 minutes before the train departs from the baggage loading station.

The passenger may draw up the electronic carriage documents on the web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app:

  • when booking an e-ticket;
  • as a supplement to the e-ticket obtained earlier (via the passenger’s personal account);
  • as a supplement to a travel document bought in a ticket office (via the passenger’s personal account, Additional Ticket Services section).

No electronic carriage document may be issued for a returned e-ticket.

In case an electronic carriage document is successfully drawn up, the user is issued a control coupon of the electronic luggage stub specifying the transportation details and bearing a 2D barcode.

The control coupon of the electronic luggage stub is printed out (A4 format) and is to be presented when boarding a train.

To board Federal Passenger Company trains on Russian domestic services, the presentation of a boarding pass is not required. Boarding is carried out upon presentation of the document certifying the identity of the passenger whose data were specified when the electronic ticket was booked and issued.

In case of any errors in the electronic carriage document the passenger may cancel the order before payment.

In the event that a passenger withdraws from a previously paid journey on the website of Russian Railways and the mobile app, the return/refund of the electronic ticket is made before the train departs from the baggage loading station.

If the electronic carriage documents are returned via the web-site of JSCo "RZD" and the RZD Passengers mobile app after the expiration of the specified periods (before the departure of the train from the first station of the route), the passenger may only cancel the seats/berths (under the electronic carriage documents (if any) issued for the transportation of the luggage in the specially equipped compartments of the passenger coaches) and no funds are reimbursed to the passenger’s bank card. The payment amounts are refunded under a complaint procedure when the passenger addresses a ticket office of JSC FPC.

16.2. Return of the electronic carriage documents to the ticket offices

The return/refund of electronic tickets with the simultaneous return of seats (if applicable) and funds (to a bank card) is carried out before the train departs from the baggage loading station.

If the passenger wishes to return the electronic carriage documents after the expiration of the relevant periods, then only the luggage places may be cancelled and the funds are reimbursed under a complaint procedure.

16.3. Issue of a copy of an electronic carriage document by a ticket office

At the request of the passenger, the long-distance ticket office can print a copy of the electronic ticket based on a strict reporting form with the obligatory presentation of the number of the electronic baggage receipt (14 characters) at the ticket office.

16.4. Vehicle Transportation in Autoracks

Electronic Railage Document for a vehicle transportation may be drafted through a personal account on JSCo "RZD" website.

Before drafting Electronic Railage Documents on the JSCo "RZD" website, the following information may be checked out:

  • whether JSC "FPC" have any autoracks for vehicles transportation, and if there are any vacant places available in such autoracks;
  • transportation tariffs.

Electronic Railage Documents for a vehicle transportation shall be arranged on JSCo "RZD" website within 5 days prior to dispatch of the train.

When booking the transportation of a vehicle, the sender shall agree to the following terms and conditions: a standard contract for the carriage of luggage (transportation of a vehicle under special conditions is booked by the passenger) or a standard contract for the carriage of cargo luggage (transportation of a vehicle under special conditions is booked by the consigner in the absence of a ticket).

If the result of booking an electronic transportation document is positive, the user is issued a control coupon for an electronic luggage or a cargo receipt with the transportation details and a 2D bar code.

​The control coupon of the electronic luggage or cargo receipt must be printed out on A4 paper and presented at the loading terminals, immediately before the vehicle is accepted for transportation.

In case of any errors in the Electronic Railage Document, the order may be cancelled before payment.

If a pre-paid transportation is cancelled via the JSCo "RZD" website, the Electronic Railage Document shall be returned within at least 5 days before the train departs from the origin station of the route.

If you have purchased discounted tickets (where the discount applies to round trips only), both tickets ("there" and "back") must be presented for the return journey.

Return of Electronic Railage Documents and money for the transportation (to the customer’s bank card) shall be arranged within at least 5 days before the train departs from the origin station of the route only when the customer addresses a ticket offices before the train departure.

The customer shall pay a return fee in case of a refund (when the funds are reimbursed).

At the request of the passenger, the long-distance ticket office can print a copy of the electronic ticket on a strict reporting form.

17. BOOKING ELECTRONIC TICKETS FOR PASSENGERS WITH PETS

Conditions and rules for the transportation of small pets on Sapsan and Lastochka trains operated by the High Speed Directorate (DOSS).
