First "Sapsan" train left Moscow for Nizhny Novgorod

imgonline-com-ua-Resize-xbk67ADxUOMmG.jpgPrior to launching the high-speed traffic, the infrastructure on the Moscow Nizhny Novgorod section was upgraded. The works were carried out from 2006 to 2010. This included the upgrade of the Moscow Zheleznodorozhnaya, and Petushki Vyazniki sections, as well as overhaul of 8 traction substations and 11 level crossings. Extra tracks were laid at 17 stations, with automatic blocking devices and signalling control boxes upgraded along 150+ km of the route. 54 passenger platforms were built and renovated. Nearly 139 km of overhead lines underwent maintenance. 331 km of fencing was installed along the route.

Overall, the reconstruction cost 9.49 billion rubles.
