Russian Railways displayed first "Sapsan" train modernised using domestic components

The work to update the "Sapsan" train’s interior involved import substitution and components manufactured exclusively by domestic enterprises. Russian Railways and a team of Russian manufacturers have created new solutions aimed at improving passenger comfort and train safety.

The train’s improved interior therefore takes into account numerous passenger wishes, especially the upholstery and covers of the seats and the colour scheme of the interiors, which have been replaced. The lighting has also been replaced and a brightness control function added depending on the time of day. Coolers with drinking water have been installed, and each passenger’s seat has sockets for charging mobile devices and USB ports.

In addition, the first-class compartment-meeting room, which is a structurally isolated four-seat room located behind the driver’s cab, now boasts a new sofa and a table with a built-in wireless charger. The business class carriage has new seats with genuine leather upholstery, USB charging sockets, cup holders and holders for mobile devices. In addition, two compartment suites have been added which have a specially designated area with two seats and darkened by glass partitions. In carriage No. 10 (family class), a special play area has been created for children to have fun during the trip, and a changing table has been installed in the restroom of carriage No. 9. New dining tables with fittings to wirelessly charge mobile devices have been installed in the bistro carriage, and the bar counters have been updated.

The updated train departed on its first trip with passengers from St. Petersburg to Moscow on 23 December 2024.
