The transportation of small animals (pets) and birds must be carried out in containers/cages/carriers whose total three dimensions should not exceed 180 cm and must be must be placed in the seats/berths intended for hand luggage.
Small pets must be placed in a container/cage/carrier immediately before boarding the train.
The transportation of large dogs is not allowed.
The containers/cages/carriers should be sufficiently spacious and have ventilation holes and a secure locking device to prevent any spontaneous opening and unauthorised access to the animal.
The bottom of the container/cage/carrier must be tight, waterproof and covered with absorbent material. The container/cage/carrier must prevent spillage of the absorbent material.
No more than one container/cage/carrier containing no more than two animals can be transported per booked ticket.
For the transportation of small pets and birds on Sapsan trains, a fixed fee of 400 roubles is charged. This amount is included in the ticket price and paid automatically when booking the indicated seats. Travel at the indicated seats/berths is allowed, including if the passenger does not have a pet. In accordance with the Rules for the Transportation of Passengers, Luggage and Cargo Luggage by Rail in accordance with Order No. 352 approved by the Ministry of Transport of Russia on 5 September 2022, guide dogs can be transported on Sapsan trains in any carriage when muzzled and on a leash. Guide dogs are transported free of charge. The transportation of small domestic (pets) animals and birds in seats/berths allocated for the carriage of passengers with disabilities in 6 (16) carriages is allowed at no additional charge. |

First and business classes. Specialised seats/berths for animals:

The transportation of small domestic (pets) animals and birds of passengers travelling in first (Nos. 1, 11) and business class (Nos. 2, 12) carriages is carried out in carriages Nos. 3, 13 in allocated seats/berths (opposite service seats No. 65, 66) under the conductor’s supervision.
Small pets must be placed in a container/cage/carrier immediately before boarding the train.
Large dogs are not allowed.
No more than one animal and no more than two animals in one carriage can be transported on each booked ticket. Small domestic (pets) animals and birds must be transported in a container/cage/carrier whose total three dimensions should not exceed 120 cm. The containers/cages/carriers should be sufficiently spacious and have ventilation holes and a secure locking device to prevent any spontaneous opening and unauthorised access to the animal. The bottom of the container/cage/carrier must be tight, waterproof and covered with absorbent material. The container/cage/carrier must prevent any spillage of the absorbent material. Passengers can order the service no later than two days before the date of the train’s departure if they have purchased a ticket by calling the free number 8 (800) 222-07-66. The cost of the transportation for small pets taken by passengers in first and business class carriages is not included in the ticket cost, is paid additionally, and amounts to 900 roubles. |

The transportation of domestic (pet) animals, cats and birds in excess of the established carry-on baggage allowance (no more than 2 animals per 1 piece, but no more than 4 animals in a compartment) is allowed, without charging an additional fee, in special carriers/containers/cages designed for the transportation of animals, each of which should not exceed 192 cm in the sum of their three dimensions.
The transportation of cats and small dog breeds is permitted without a special carrier/container/cage. The dogs must be muzzled, kept on a leash and remain on the floor of the compartment in which they are transported throughout the entire journey.
Large dogs are not allowed.

For the transportation of small pets and birds on Lastochka trains with 700s numbering, a fixed fee of 150 roubles is charged. This amount is included in the ticket price and is paid automatically when booking the indicated seats. On Lastochka trains with 800s numbering, no extra charge is made for the transportation of small pets and birds on specialised seats/berths. Travelling on the indicated seats/berths is allowed, including if the passenger does not have a pet.

* Transportation of small domestic (pets) animals, dogs and birds on long-distance and suburban trains across the territory of the Russian Federation is allowed without the need to present veterinary documents.
** For the convenience of passengers on Lastochka trains running on the routes between Moscow – Ivanovo, Moscow – Kostroma and Moscow – St. Petersburg, pet carriers are available for sale. A carrying bag can be purchased directly on board Lastochka trains from the carriage conductor. The bag is made of a special material that does not absorb odors and is easy to clean. The carrier design enables rapid assembly/disassembly, compact storage and transportation. The carrier measures 51x29x29 cm and costs 1,290 roubles.
