They are used to transport bulk cargo, containers, motor vehicles and long goods such as logs, pipes and metal etc.

Equipped with an open body, which enables the fast loading and unloading of products. Unloading hatches are often installed in the floor (self-unloading models).

 

Open-box cars are:

 

  • universal – with unloading hatches at the bottom, doors opening inward;
  • special – without a hatch and doors, only for top loading of bulk goods.

The carrying capacity of gondola cars is from 62 to 125 tons. Volume – from 64 to 137.5 m³.

If necessary, bulk cargoes can be covered with a tarpaulin on the top in order to avoid large product losses due to exposure to the wind.
