OJSC Russian Railways and PJSC SIBUR Holding have signed an agreement on cooperation to develop applications of polymer and composite materials in the rail industry.

The document was signed at the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by Valery Tanaev, the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Engineer at OJSC Russian Railways, and Pavel Lyakhovich, a Member of the Management Board and the Executive Director of SIBUR.

The two companies plan to implement joint projects for the introduction of fundamentally new technical means, technologies and materials, as well as to assist in conducting research and development. The use of solutions using polymer and composite materials makes for reduced weight and an increased tensile strength of products and expands the temperature range of applications.
