Russian Railways and Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment sign cooperation agreement

At the 2025 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian Railways and the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of nature management and environmental protection, including specially protected natural areas of federal significance. The document was signed by the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov.

"Railways cross or border 114 specially protected natural areas," said Alexander Kozlov. "These include federal, national and regional nature reserves. This environmental agreement will help find ways to minimise damage to protected areas and reduce the negative impact of transport infrastructure on the environment."

"Russian Railways remains committed to the principles of caring for nature," said Oleg Belozerov. "The Company's new and existing projects contribute to the achievement of national environmental goals."

The parties also consider it necessary to develop a system of environmental education for residents and visitors of specially protected natural areas of federal significance.
