Small domestic animals (pet)s, dogs (including large breed dogs and service dogs) and birds can be transported on suburban commuter trains:
- for a fee set by the carrier and not exceeding 25% (twenty-five percent) of the cost of travel for an adult passenger on a similar route;
- when in compliance with the sanitary and hygienic regime in the carriage and in boxes, baskets, cages or containers, which must be stored in places intended for hand luggage, and which must be arranged in such a way as to exclude the possibility of animals causing harm to passengers and the carrier. The size of such a piece of hand luggage should not exceed 180 cm in the sum of its three dimensions.
It is permitted to transport large and service dogs if they are muzzled, on a leash and under the supervision of their owners or accompanying persons.
The transportation of small dogs without boxes, baskets, cages or containers is permitted only when they are muzzled and on a leash. Cats must be under the supervision of their owners or accompanying persons.
When transporting small domestic animals, dogs and birds, their owners or accompanying persons must ensure compliance with the sanitary and hygienic regime that applies in the carriage.
Disabled people may take guide dogs with them in all types of carriages if they have a document confirming their special training. There is no charge for the transportation of guide dogs, and no transportation documents are issued. The guide dog must have a collar and muzzle and be located at the feet of the passenger it is accompanying.
The transportation of small pets, dogs, cats and birds on suburban trains is possible but subject to the requirements of veterinary regulations.
The carrier is not responsible for bodily injury, loss, illness or death of an animal during transportation, except in cases where this gas occurred for the purpose of causing pain and (or) suffering to the animal, as well as due to hooliganism or mercenary motives.
Carriers can establish their own procedures providing they are not in contradiction of the Rules for the Transportation of Passengers and the legislation of the Russian Federation.
